Pre School Years

Once you have registered the birth of a baby there a number of things that need doing:

1- The six week Mum and Baby check – Practice will send mum and baby’s appointment details

2- Baby vaccinations – Must have had Six week check before can proceedwith vaccinations

Two Months Old – First 5 in 1 Vac + 1st Pneumonia Vac + 1st Rotavirus + 1st Men B

Three Months Old – Second 5 in 1 Vac + 1st Men C  + 2nd Rotavirus

Four Months Old – Third 5 in 1 + 2nd Pneumonia + 2nd Men B

13 Months Old – 1st MMR Vac + 1st HIB Men C + 3rd Pneumonia + 3rd Men B

3 years 4 months – Pre-School Booster Vac

You will receive appointments from Child Health to attend Surgery for all the above vaccinations.

Your Health Visitor is a key health professional now and can advise on a wide range of issues, eg problems with feeding, growth, development ; as well as advising on local scemes eg sure start.

School years

Most schools have a school nurse – for details please contact the school

Child Protection

All health professionals are alert for concerns about child welfare. If there are any child protection concerns, there take priority over any other consideration. If you have any concerns about the wellbeing of a child you know, you can discuss them with a GP at the Practice.

Teenage 

It is usual for young people under 16 to come with  a parent or other older relation,  but if a young person is mature enough to make decisions about their health care he/she can come on their own,or with a friend.

a word about acne. Acne is not dangerous but can make young people miserable.  If you have tried the usual ‘over the counter’ treatments please make an appointment to discuss the alternatives. There are plenty and there will be something for you.
