Important - NHS services across the North West are experiencing extremely high demand at the moment – this includes GP practices and the 111 service which are both extremely busy. If you need advice for an every-day illness or injury, please either contact your local pharmacy for help or look at the self-care advice that’s available on-line from the NHS at www.nhs.uk. If you want to check your symptoms, there is an on-line symptom checker available at 111.nhs.uk, which will re-direct you to a health professional if you need to be seen by someone. If you have persistent symptoms that are not getting better, contact your practice for advice

When the Practice is closed in the first instance you should call the NHS 111 helpline which is a service that has been introduced to make it easier for you to access local NHS healthcare services. You should call 111 when you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency. NHS 111 is the fast and easy way to get the right help, whatever the time.
Simply dial 111 and you will be put through to NHS111 call centre and advised of the best course of action. For more information on the NHS111 service please see item ‘NHS111’ under Further Information listed on the right hand side of this website.

GP Practice
Your local general GP surgery provides a wide range of family health services, including: advice on health problems, vaccinations, examinations and treatment, prescriptions for medicines, referrals to other health services and social services.
Your surgery will make sure you get to speak to a healthcare professional on the same day if you have an urgent condition. If it is more convenient, you should also be able to book appointments in advance. It is important to keep your appointment, or notify the surgery if you have to cancel or change it.
GPs are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you need to see a GP outside normal surgery hours you can go to the GP out-of-hours service. The out-of-hours service runs from 6.30pm to 8.00am on weekdays and all day at weekends and on bank holidays.
All Day Health Centre
Arrowe Park All Day Health Centre (Walk-In Centre) Arrowe Park Hospital, Arrowe Park Road, Wirral CH49 5PE Tel: 0151 201 4188
Victoria Central Hospital Mill Lane Wallasey Wirral CH44 5UF
Located over two sites – this main centre is based in the out-of-hours centre next to the accident and emergency department at Arrowe Park Hospital in Upton. The nurse-led service is available Monday to Friday 7.00am to 10.00pm, and weekends 9.00am to 10.00pm.
Minor Injuries Service
If your injury is not serious you can get help from a minor injuries service rather than an A&E department. By doing so you will save yourself a potentially long wait and allow A&E staff to concentrate on people with serious and life-threatening conditions.
Located at the following locations:
Parkfield MC Sefton road New Ferry 0151 6044 0055 Opening times are 12-8pm Mon -Thurs, and 12pm – 6pm on a Friday.
Miriam Medical Centre Birkenhead Medical Centre 31 Laird Street Birkenhead CH41 8DB 0151 652 6077 Opening times are 12pm –8pm Monday to Thursday 12pm to 6pm on a Friday
The Minor Emergency Service is a drop-in and referral service for patients registered at a Wirral practice. The service compliments other services such as Walk In Centres, GP Out of Hours & All Day Health Centre and can support the reduction of A&E attendances.
